Building Windfall Bio’s Impact Reporting Program

Having established a baseline GHG inventory for Scopes 1, 2, and 3 in 2024, we recognize that there is still significant room for improvement. Moving forward, we will focus on identifying opportunities to reduce emissions across the company’s operations while continuing to expand technology deployments to increase overall methane capture and fertilizer production. We will continue to improve the overall precision of Windfall Bio’s GHG inventory through strengthening data processes and controls related to company spend categorization, lab inventory tracking and management, and supplier-specific data. Where possible across the value chain, we will transition from a spend-based method to supplier and product-specific calculations — all of which will require deeper engagement with our supply chain partners.

As we continue to scale and produce larger volumes of biomass and fertilizer across a growing network of contract manufacturing organizations and bioreactor installations, it will become increasingly important to streamline data collection processes to track the total amount of biomass and fertilizer produced. Today, the operations team is manually consolidating information from contract manufacturing partners, bioreactors, and labs. We anticipate that developing a digital monitoring, reporting and verification (dMRV) platform will streamline this process in the future.

To better track the carbon intensity of the products we produce across contract manufacturing operations, we will work with our contract manufacturing partners to obtain more detailed process input data alongside the biomass production data they already provide.

We will also continue to improve Windfall Bio’s internal lab inventory management system, not only improving the precision of methane conversion data but also allowing visibility into other environmental impacts, such as water consumption and waste production.

We are transitioning from using HR surveys to an integrated solution within our HR software platform. This shift will enhance the accuracy, efficiency and security of workforce demographic data collection, ensuring more reliable tracking and reporting.
